There’s a thread for music in general but I thought I’d like to know everyone’s most liked game OSTs. There seems to be a lot of general consensus on good music in games, however I’m still curious seeing as to how Dreams offers a way to create music. This past week has been rough for me with work, so I haven’t been able to play much myself, but I have fooled around with Anvil Studio and Audicity years ago. Really wish I was good at it, want to learn something, maybe a harp, but I fear I just might not have the talent for it.

So at least getting to know what has inspired others might drive me to get decent at this...or not. But it’s worth a try. At worst it will help learn about each other. Here are a bunch of mine:

    Chrono Trigger
    Final Fantasy 6
    Lost Odyssey
    Drakengard 3
    Nier Automata
    God Hand
    The Silver Case
    25th Ward
    Flower Sun and Rain
    No More Heroes
    Shadows of the Damned
    Lollipop Chainsaw
    Killer is Dead
    Travis Strikes Again
    Red Dead Redemption 2
    Shadow of the Colossus
    The Last Guardian
    Zelda 2
    Majora’s Mask
    The Wind Waker
    Skyward Sword
    Breath of the Wild
    Mother 3
    Kirby’s Adventure
    Kirby 64
    Paper Mario 2
    Super Mario Galaxy
    Super Smash Bros Melee
    Metal Gear Solid 2
    Metal Gear Solid 3
    Pokemon gen 2
    Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
    Demon’s Souls

ok...maybe my list is a little long :P May just plan to list a couple specific standouts in the future, but I’ll let others decide what they want to do.

Most of my favourite soundtracks are from video games that I would play as a kid, because of all the fond memories they bring back.

The Harry Potter and Kingdom Hearts OSTs are big faves of mine:

I have yet to come across an OST that I like better than Kingdom Hearts'. It's been an all-time favourite for many years. Recently, I've also been keen on Everybody's Gone to the Rapture's OST. It's pretty soothing:

From classic games, I love the music / ambiance in Super Metroid

Another one that I loved was Final Fantasy VIII and yes, it's 8 and not 7.

I loved the music in Oddworld too. One of my favorite series.

More recently though, I love the music in No Man's Sky.

And especially....Red Dead Redemption 2. Man! This game!

RDR2 definitely has some great stuff. This one was particularly nostalgic.

Guess I do have a couple more specific ones I could talk about.

Not exactly amazing but it is pretty memorable for being the first game I ever finished. That said I do think Grant Kirkhope doesn’t seem to have much bad stuff at all - everything he does is great.

The whole ost to this game is great and it’s just nice to have it remastered.

Growing up a lot of games challenged me, but for a long time now I’ve really stuck to mostly easy stuff, outside of one or two like God Hand. Only FromSoft game I’ve finished was Demon’s Souls and that was due in part to item duping. So it was nice to have a challenge here that was related to something I could easily memorize. Even so, it’s a bit contemporary, compared to this next one.

Most of this games’ tracks are sampled from classical pieces, but this one takes directly from voice and music played by the character fought during this section, which makes it have more impact, especially considering he gave up his talent for music in exchange for unrivaled power.
